PAS invades TikTok again in hope it will deliver blows to PH-BN

IN a repeat of the 15th General Election (GE15), PAS Youth Wing is churning out more videos and pushing affiliates to campaign harder ahead of the crucial state elections in August.PAS Youth Wing has gained significant traction on TikTok with over 117,000 followers and nearly a million likes.Affiliated and endorsed accounts associated with the party have been actively producing daily videos on national politics and identity, contributing to PAS’ influence on the platform.One notable account, called Benda Betul (True Things), operated by a firm funded by PAS has amassed over 134,000 followers since October 2022, ahead of the general election, according to the South China Morning Post.As the country approaches the upcoming state elections in August, the account has started uploading new videos.Individually run accounts supporting PAS have also garnered substantial attention. One such account, managed by Muhd Tarmizi on behalf of Kedah state’s chief minister Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has accumulated more than 4.5 million likes through regular uploads of several daily videos. Another similar account has received over 3 million likes.Sanusi today claimed that his TikTok account was banned by the unity government. He added that he is too popular and that is why his TikTok is banned.The forthcoming state elections in Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah, Penang, Selangor and Negri Sembilan will be a test for PAS’ popularity, particularly among the Malay majority, as well as the standing of the prime minister.It is expected that the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition, including PAS, will retain control of Kelantan, Terengganu, and Kedah, while Anwar’s unity government is projected to secure the remaining three states. – July 16, 2023
