PAS’ Samsuri heading for a landslide win in Kemaman

TERENGGANU Menteri Besar who is also Terengganu PAS chief Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar is currently leading with a tally of 55,500 votes against Barisan Nasional’s (BN) 23,800 votes.

Samsuri is defending the seat in Kemaman against BN’s Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed Noor, a former chief of the defence force.

The by-election was prompted by the loss of Perikatan Nasional’s (PN) Che Alias Hamid due to an election petition. In the November 2022 general election, the PAS candidate won by a majority of 27,179.

As of the latest count, Ahmad Samsuri is poised for a significant victory, securing nearly 70% of the vote share.

UMNO secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki in a Facebook post has congratulated the PAS for their big win in Kemaman.

“Congratulations PAS on the great victory in the Kemaman Parliament,” he wrote.

“This means that PN remains in defence of 69 parliamentary seats at the moment. While the Unity Government remains supported by 152 MPs. There are no changes to the unity government. Now you can focus all your efforts on defending the welfare of the people and driving the country’s economy back,” he added. – Dec 2, 2023
