PAS Selangor has slammed Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s statement which only described the recent Israeli invasion-cum-attack on worshippers at the Al-Aqsa Mosque as “heinous crime”, saying that Anwar’s condemnation is “very weak” because Israel has never respected the well-being and rights of the Palestinians since seizing their land in 1948.
As PM, the Islamist party reckoned that Anwar’s Madani government needs to be more assertive about the endless oppression of Palestinians, including expanding the role of the Malaysian military as a peacekeeping force while PAS Selangor itself is ready to collaborate with the government to send medical aid to the troubled region.
“The PM’s call for intervention of the United Nation (UN) Security Council needs to be translated into a special motion to condemn the Israel Defence Forces as a terrorist group and bringing international criminals to justice even though it is known that the US will probably use its veto power to oppose such resolution,” insisted PAS Selangor’s information chief Nushi Mahfodz.
“Wisma Putra, on the other hand, only released a statement strongly condemning the aggression against the Palestinians but emphasised the recognition of an independent Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 border agreement.”
On this note, PAS Selangor also urged Anwar to repeat his stance and the statement issued by the Wall Street Journal on Jan 26, 2012 that he supported efforts to protect Israel’s national security in his capacity as Opposition leader at that time.
“This is contrary to Turkish President Erdorgan who has warned that he will mobilise the Turkish army and people to defend the Al-Aqsa Mosque recently,” revealed Nushi. “PAS Selangor has itself issued a statement that strongly condemns the Israeli army’s invasion of the Al-Aqsa Mosque on April 5 which was published in local newspapers.”
The Islamist party also took a jibe at Anwar who dared to warn the Malays not to be arrogant and boastful upon returning from his one-day official visit to Cambodia recently but has no guts to impose similar harsh stance to address the Israeli Zionists.
“Even Allah SWT has used the word arrogant and boastful on the Pharaoh and his army (Surah Al-Qasas: 29),” shared Nushi. “PAS Selangor is committed to defending the glory of Islam and continues to fight to create a cleaner, prosperous and tolerant Selangor.” – April 7, 2023
