PAS: The spilt between DAP and UMNO in PH coalition is widening

PAS has reiterated its doomsday prophecy that the Pakatan Harapan-Barisan Nasional (PH-BN) ‘marriage’ is inching a step closer to ‘divorce’ with one DAP leader after another having started to question the role of UMNO in the PH-BN alliance.

In retaliation, agitated top UMNO leaders have also started attacking PH leaders openly, according to Negri Sembilan PAS Youth chief Mahfuz Roslan.

“As expected, UMNO under (its president) Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has become a burden that needs cleansing,” he penned his observation on his Facebook page. “DAP as the ‘big brother’ in the Madani government will certainly not keep quiet.”

Mahfuz further claimed that the issue of ex-premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s royal pardon, seat allocation for the upcoming state polls (July/August this year) and the court case of Zahid who is also Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) and BN chairman are “only fuelling the raging fire”.

“If UMNO-DAP were not in the government, the people might not care. But as component parties in the Madani government, their clash has indirectly cost the people,” he argued. “Time and energy that should be properly invested in building the nation and safeguarding the welfare of the people has been wasted on their ‘household’ affairs.”

After four months of rule, Mahfuz claimed that the people are the biggest losers given that “Anwar has managed to become the PM, Zahid has remained UMNO’s president and DAP has managed to dominate the government with their followers been lifted to government-linked companies (GLCs).

“But what do the people get? They need to speak up if they don’t intend to become like what the Malay proverb describes, ‘when two elephants fight each other, the mouse deer will die in the middle’,” asserted Mahfuz who once contested in the 2018 general election under the Port Dickson parliamentary constituency but lost to PH-PKR’s Danyal Balagopal Abdullah.

“They (the errant leaders) will do anything to stay in power and we must do everything to protect the country from tyrant leaders.”

Earlier, Mahfuz claimed that from the beginning of the PH-BN ‘marriage’ until now, the DAP-UMNO feud has been openly exposed, realising the prediction and warning of the opposition Perikatan Nasional (PN) since day one.

“The PH-BN cooperation is indeed nothing more than a forced alliance to bump up the power of their key leaders, namely Anwar and Zahid,” he added. – April 28, 2023
