PAS VP: Kelantan will prosper if PAS remains in power

KELANTAN has a chance to become a rich state if PAS remains in power since the state can now depend on the exploitation of rare earth elements (REE), said PAS vice president Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah.

“If the party is chosen again as the state government in the next state polls, the exploitation of REE will bring benefits.“However, the management and policy of REE which is worth almost RM125 bil need to be streamlined hence the party intends to get the views of experts from all over the country to manage these resources,” added Nik Amar.

According to him, the policy for rare earth extraction is with the Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change Ministry. It would be followed up by the state government.

He also pointed out that they will face challenges in managing REE, expertise or professionals are needed and after the state election (PRN) they will arrange the best management of the land.

“The previous government was associated with dependence on timber products but with the REE, timber will not be exploited,” noted Nik Amar. The districts of Jeli, Tanah Merah and Gua Musang have been identified as areas with large amounts of rare earth minerals that are crucial for modern electronics. – June 18, 2023
