HULU Selangor aspirant MP Haniza Mohamed Talha is hopeful that FELDA settlers in the parliamentary constituency will gradually warm up to the assistance rendered by Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) in the quest to elevate their standard of living for.
The deputy PBM president who is engaged in a six-corner fight for the Hulu Selangor seat during the 15th General Election (GE15) has recently accepted an invitation to meet and listen to issues faced by FELDA settlers.
Through such encounter, she also took the opportunity to update them of the latest developments pertaining to grouses raised by them earlier.
“On Aug 31, I brought Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin (who happens to be PBM’s president designate) to meet the FELDA settlers to find solutions to three main issues they were facing,” shared Haniza who is also the Lembah Jaya state assemblywoman for the Selangor State Legislative Assembly.
The issues are as follows:
- Opening of account for settlers who work their own oil palm plantations;
- Application to increase the weight limit of monthly palm oil sales to factories from 15 metric tonnes (MT) for each settler’s account; and
- Allowing cooperatives established by settlers to buy palm oil from the settlers (immediately after the meeting, Zuraida initiated a meeting with FELDA’s top management to find a solution.
“Alhamdulillah (praise be to God) I received information that the monthly weight limit of palm oil sales has been increased to metric 20MT and is now is in the process of being implemented,” revealed Haniza
“The other two issues are still in the approval process and I am very positive that these will also be resolved soon.
Such piece of news was greatly welcomed by the FELDA settlers during Haniza’s recent meeting with them. In Hulu Selangor, there are many FELDA settlers who are expected to benefit from the recent decision.
“I humbly invite FELDA settlers to give me their full support in this GE15. If I win, I promise I will continue to fight for the betterment of FELDA settlers in this constituency,” she pledged.
“God willing, I will work together with all relevant quarters to ensure the voices of these settlers are heard and also find solutions to other arising issues.” – Nov 12, 2022
