MALAYSIA’s top women’s doubles pair, Pearly Tan and Thinaah Muralitharan have won the Hong Kong Open 2024.
They defeated China’s Liu Sheng Shu and Tan Ning in two sets, 21-14 and 21-14. They previously emerged as runners-up in last year’s edition.
Their win in the semi-finals gave them a chance to bounce back after their loss in last year’s final against Indonesia’s Apriyani Rahayu and Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti, who edged them out 21-14, 22-24, 9-21.
The third-seeded Malaysians won in the semi-finals in a 74-minute match (22-20, 17-21, 21-15) inflicting a second successive defeat on the first-seeded South Korean pair of Baek Ha Na-Lee So Hee at the Li-Ning Hong Kong Open 2024. – Sept 15, 2024
