BERSATU deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu has confirmed that he has been appointed as Negri Sembilan Perikatan Nasional (PN) Chairman with immediate effect.
This comes following news yesterday (June 1) that Datuk Eddin Syazlee had been dropped as the state chief.
“Datuk Eddin Syazlee remains in the leadership structure. He has performed well. The current effort is to involve the central leadership to increase and smooth the journey of the party machinery,” Faizal was quoted as saying by Bernama.
Meanwhile, Eddin said that his removal as Negri Sembilan PN chief as a routine political matter and he remained committed to helping the party prepare for the upcoming state elections.
Speaking to The Star, the former Kuala Pilah MP today (June 2) said he accepted the decision with an open heart and would continue to do his best for the party.
“We need to do our best to strengthen the party machinery. I hope Bersatu members will not take my removal the wrong way,” he said, adding that he was still a Bersatu member who would do his best for the party.
Negri Sembilan’s PN secretary Mohd Nazree Mohd Yunus confirmed the move.
Contesting under Pakatan Harapan ticket during the 14th General Election (GE14), Eddin won the Kuala Pilah parliamentary seat by a razor-thin margin of 200 votes.
However, he failed to defend the seat in GE15, losing to Barisan Nasional’s Datuk Adnan Abu Hassan, who won with a majority of 6,483 votes in a five-cornered fight.
Eddin Syazlee had previously served as deputy works minister, among other Cabinet positions. – June 2, 2023
