PERKASA president Syed Hasan Syed Ali has warned of a systematic effort to equate other races with Malays, particularly regarding Malay privileges.
He accused DAP leader Lim Kit Siang of attempting to diminish the role of the Malay Rulers and Islam, linking it to a broader agenda of secularism and liberalism.
“Kit Siang comes from a party that seeks to steer the country towards secularism, liberalism, and pluralism. This is their step-by-step effort. I am not surprised if, from time to time, they make new demands,” he said at a press conference.
The statement was made following a police report lodged by the Sekretariat Kedaulatan Agama Negara chairman, Ustaz Masridzi Sat, at the Dang Wangi District Police Headquarters.
Syed Hassan also criticised calls for a non-Malay Prime Minister and raised concerns over renaming Malay villages, claiming it erases Malay history.
He blamed Malay leaders for failing to defend their community’s rights, asserting that only the Malay Rulers can uphold Malay sovereignty.
“I believe that when Kit Siang says non-Malays can become Prime Minister, yes, technically, it is true. But why bring this up when the country is still predominantly Malay?
“We see their demands increasing over time, and eventually, Malay leaders give in. I believe that one day, they will even push for a non-Malay king.
“Maybe they will try to place one in Penang or Melaka, citing some historical dynasty or past connection to justify their claim,” he said. —Feb 16, 2025
