Peter Anthony quits Warisan, to form GRS friendly party

PARTI Warisan Sabah (Warisan) vice president Peter Anthony announced that he is leaving the party, with immediate effect.  

According to Utusan Malaysia, Anthony, who is also Melalap state assemblyman, is said to be planning to form a new party of his own, aligned to Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS). 

Another Warisan leader Juil Nuatim, also Limbahau state assemblyperson, is expected to join Anthony soon.  

Since losing the Sabah state election last year, Warisan has been hit with a series of defections, with more if its former members aligning itself to GRS.  

Among those who had left the party were Sebatik state assemblyperson Hassan A Gani, Sindumin’s Datuk Dr Yusof Yacob and Lahad Datu MP Datuk Mohamaddin Ketapi.  

Although Warisan ‘s elected leaders have signed a pledge to vacate their seats in the event of a defection, to date the Sabah state speaker Datuk Kadzim Yahya have dismissed them citing it has no legal bearing.  

Recently, Warisan had established its branches in the Peninsula Malaysia, with the Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (MUDA) formalising ties with the former. – Dec 28, 2021.
