Petronas to host project management conference next year

KUALA LUMPUR: In an effort to raise project management standards in the country, Petronas will host the inaugural International Project Management Conference (IPMC) 2020 on Nov 30-Dec 2, 2020.

It said in a statement that the conference – to be held biennially – would act as a platform to explore how the project management fraternity can address challenges and drive industry competitiveness, both locally and globally.

The conference would see experts sharing cross-industry best practices, lessons learnt, cutting edge technologies, processes and tools in response to the wave of global digital transformation.

It would also highlight the need to equip project management teams with the necessary technical knowledge and capabilities to deliver better project value.

“Technological, social and market evolutions that are currently changing the world have also begun to transform all aspects of project management.

“Therefore, we must collectively step up and seek opportunities to improve the way project management operates to deliver projects more effectively and successfully,” said IPMC 2020 chairman and Petronas vice-president of Group Project Delivery, Project Delivery and Technology, Noor Ilias Mohd Idris.

Themed “Beyond Projects – Embracing the New Era,” the conference is expected to attract more than 1,000 local and international delegates from sectors such as oil and gas, new energy, building and infrastructure, maritime and shipping as well as digital.
