PETRONAS Twin Towers celebrates 25th anniversary with showcase of Malaysia’s unique heritage

IN conjunction with PETRONAS Twin Towers’ 25th anniversary, some 4,000 visitors participated in a series of exciting art and cultural activities from Aug 30 to Sept 1 at the PETRONAS Twin Towers Visit.

This three-day celebration marked its silver anniversary since the iconic landmark first opened in 1999.

From its interlinking Skybridge at Level 41 to the expansive Observation Deck at Level 86, visitors were also treated to breathtaking views of the vibrant Kuala Lumpur cityscape during the three-day event.

The PETRONAS Twin Towers, along with the vibrant cultural showcases, serve as a symbol of pride for Malaysia, offering both local and international guests a deeper understanding and appreciation of Malaysia’s rich heritage and pride.

These included a range of activities at Level 83, such as demonstrations of Tiffin painting, songket notebook crafting, mengkuang weaving, batik painting, and traditional cultural performances.

Alongside these activities and performances, visitors also enjoyed a mini photo exhibition in the concourse area.

The exhibition showcased the work of renowned photographers Siva Kumar, Aereon Wong, and Amri Ginang, capturing the architectural magnificence of the towers and the splendour of the Kuala Lumpur skyline.

“This milestone celebration not only marks a significant moment to us but also reflects our enduring commitment to sharing Malaysia’s pride with the world,” said Petrosains Sdn Bhd CEO Ezarisma Azni Mohamad.

“As we commemorate this silver jubilee celebration, we are honoured to be given this opportunity to offer such a memorable experience that bridges the gap between cultural understanding and global appreciation. We look forward to continuing this journey with everyone for many years to come.”

The event on Aug 30 was also graced by the presence of Istana Budaya director-general Zubaidah Mokhtar.

Petrosains Sdn Bhd is a wholly-owned subsidiary of PETRONAS, managing the visit operations of two distinctive institutions in the nation – Petrosains, The Discovery Centre and the world-renowned PETRONAS Twin Towers.
