PAS has resorted “to strictly prohibiting all members from making any public statements related to its internal affairs” with internal protest threatened to boil over among PAS grassroots in Kelantan following the omission of Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz – son of the late PAS spiritual leader Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat – as a state election candidate.
The ruling covers any form of comments made through online media or social media and whether in the form of video or audio.
“In this regard, every member needs to remember that the process of selecting candidates to represent PAS for both the Dewan Rakyat and at state assembly level is made in accordance with the provisions outlined in the PAS Constitution as opposed to the insistence, pressure or influence of any party,” the party’s secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan pointed out in a Facebook (FB) statement.
“This needs to go through many levels, including the Council of Shura Ulamak, the Central PAS Working Committee and the PAS Election Department so as to taking into account the views of the PAS organisation at all levels.”
Added Takiyuddin who is also the Perikatan Nasional (PN) chip whip:
“Therefore, any such statements which carry risk towards the support for PAS/PN need to be stopped immediately to prevent PAS disciplinary authorities from having to carry out their proceedings. Any questions or disputes regarding internal party matters should be brought and resolved through the party’s channels.”
As expected, the statement sparked some exchanges with netizen Nizam Giggs branding Takiyuddin’s statement as “being dictatorial” following which Faris NaziNadin told him to mind his own business “by campaigning for BN (Barisan Nasional)”.
“This is my right of speech … Even (pro-PAS) Kedahans like to meddle on (Pakatan Harapan-rule) Selangor matters,” rebutted Nizam.
This is when netizen Zk Foong took a swipe at PAS by implying that “the party is only PAS by name but behaves like communist” while Md Äzhar à Šëman reckoned that PAS “has started to behave like UMNO”.
“Put whatever name you like, there will still be internal squabble over position by the party leadership then blame the supporters,” chastised Azhar. “When election draws closer, there will be donation drive and fundraising while rallying for support. Exactly the same behaviour as PH. At the end of the day, UMNO is also the smartest.”
Netizen Arie Putra described PAS as “weird” for side-lining Nik Abduh who is many times better than Keelantan deputy caretaker menteri besar Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah who likes to babble”.
“Why is it that good people like Nik Abduh are swept away while those with strong babbling capability are exalted?” lamented the netizen.
