Pharmaniaga gets ready for vaccine distribution with Oracle

THE unprecedented demand for the COVID-19 vaccine will create cold chain complexity for the logistics industry unlike anything the country has ever seen.

In light of that, Pharmaniaga Bhd has chosen Oracle Fusion Cloud Supply Chain & Manufacturing (SCM) to help the pharmaceutical company improve its logistics capabilities in preparing for the process of distributing the COVID-19 vaccine in Malaysia.

By working with Oracle Cloud SCM, Pharmaniaga will be able to automate planning and execution processes while also gaining real-time shipment insights to improve efficiency and security.

“We’ve been delivering vaccines to health facilities in Malaysia for more than 25 years and have strong cold chain infrastructure, but we needed to reduce manual processes to meet the monumental challenge of distributing the COVID-19 vaccine,” said Pharmaniaga Bhd director of logistics & distribution Abdul Malik Mohamed.

“With Oracle Cloud SCM’s logistics and Internet of Things (IoT) applications, we will be better positioned to efficiently and safely deliver the COVID-19 vaccine across Malaysia,” he added.

More specifically, enabling the Oracle Transportation Management can enable Pharmaniaga to automate logistics planning and execution and improve efficiency.

Additionally, the Oracle IoT Intelligent Applications can help monitor cargo temperature and vehicle routes to validate the quality of the products. – Jan 25, 2021
