Pickleball meets pilates: The hybrid workout netizens can’t wrap their heads around

WHAT’s weirder than ping pong and tennis? Marrying the both of them and coming up with the idea of pickle ball of course. As though this isn’t weird enough, let’s combine pickle ball with pilates too just to ramp up the weird level a little.

Take it from this video where a class of students could be seen stretching on the reformer while they balanced a pickle ball with a paddle. “We are not ready for this,” said netizen @SyedAkramin who posted the video and we couldn’t agree more.

One can only wonder what are the health benefits of such an exercise although it is obviously not easy to perform. People who do pilates often can attest to this statement since the workout requires a strong core, good balance and formidable legs. Now add a paddle and even more balancing and we have quite a nightmare on our hands.

Some netizens found this novel form of exercise rather ridiculous as can be seen in the sarcastic comments.

“Why not yoga plus yogurt eating become one?” said @eddienglfc. That is actually a great idea when we think about it. What can go wrong when dessert and exercise are combined?

“Better off playing some great tennis. Game set match, vamos!” added @KasutManik. Then there was @Aieman2149 suggesting that a certain badminton legend might not appreciate the innovation.

On another note, the pilates pickle ball hybrid exercise is being held by Yen Pilates at Residensi Majestic Maxim. Any takers? On our part, we would rather stick with yoga and yogurt, thank you very much.

People who participate in the pilates pickle ball class should listen intently and they may hear the sound of earth churning. That is the sound of Joseph Pilates rolling in his grave. —Sept 30, 2025
