THE election machinery of Perikatan Nasional (PN) in the Juasseh state seat faced a shocking discovery today as a pig’s head was found on the opposition coalition’s flag outside their operations room.
PN’s candidate for the constituency, Datuk Eddin Syazlee Shith said that he received word of the incident at 8.30am today.
Another pig’s head was also placed at the residence of one of his officers in the district, according to him.
“There are all sorts of things happening and we have already predicted it, perhaps much worse can happen but never mind, the important thing is that we must remain calm and composed.
“I feel that such deplorable actions are meant to be a disruption and distraction from facing the state election where there are just three days left,” said Eddin.
The former Kuala Pilah MP suggested that such disgraceful actions might be attempts to disrupt and divert attention from the upcoming election, attributing them to the desperation of certain parties.
Despite these challenges, he underscored that these incidents are an inherent part of the election process. At the same time, he stated that they could not point fingers.
The incident had been reported to the police for necessary action. Eddin also urged his party’s members and supporters to stay positive regardless of the incident.
“During the ceramah (talk) last night (Aug 8), I advised the party’s machinery that if we notice any of our opponents’ fallen posters or flags, we should pick them up and replace them.
“We want a good and positive political culture, climate, and practise. There must be maturity and level-headedness in politics,” he emphasised.
Meanwhile, Kuala Pilah district police chief Superintendent Amran Mohd Ghani has confirmed receiving a report regarding the incident, adding that police are carrying out an investigation. – Aug 9, 2023
