PKR MP condemns new petrol bomb attack against KK Mart Kuantan

KUANTAN police chief Asst Comm Wan Mohd Zahari Wan Busu announced that another KK Super Mart outlet has been attacked with a petrol bomb, adding that an unknown individual hurled a Molotov cocktail at the entrance to the store in Sungai Isap here at about 5.14am Saturday.

Meanwhile, PKR MP Hassan Abdul Karim has urged Prime Minister (PM) Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail to take immediate executive action to ease the escalating situation after the second firebomb attack at the KK Mart outlet in Kuantan, Pahang, early this morning.

“His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim King of Malaysia has spoken. The Perak Sultan has spoken out and so has the Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain. They have all advised for racial and religious tensions to be eased,” Hassan said in a statement today.

“The rakyat now want the PM and home minister to take executive action based on the law so that the people are safe and our country Malaysia does not fall back into the destruction of racial and ethnic divisions. Please act before it’s too late.”

In Kuantan, it was a cashier at the store who was breaking fast that helped to extinguish the flames from the petrol bomb.

“A cashier at the store was breaking fast when she saw a Molotov cocktail thrown from the outside, bursting into flames on the carpet of the front entrance. It caused a small fire.

“The cashier was panicking but she managed to grab a fire extinguisher and put out the fire.

“Her colleague contacted their employer, who then called the police and the Fire and Rescue Department,” said ACP Wan Mohd Zahari. – March 30, 2024
