“PKR must be kidding if it makes Ramanan party warlord in Malay/UMNO stronghold Johor”

WHETHER this is a goodwill character assassination tactic or otherwise, the very speculation of PKR making its vice-president Datuk Seri R. Ramanan the party’s warlord in the upcoming Johor state election has seemingly ‘pissed off’ both detractors and PKR grassroots alike.

This follows the revelation by socio-political news portal AM Daily which – attributing to sources – noted that the Human Resource Minister has been earmarked as a potential bet by the PKR central leadership to coordinate election strategy and strengthen the party’s machinery at constituencies that it will be contesting in.

“This development is seen as part of PKR’s initial strategy to ensure that the election campaign can be organised more aggressively and systematically to face what is expected to be a fierce battle,” penned the news portal’s editorial.

His experience in managing political operations and reaching out to various levels of society is seen as a factor that convinced the party leadership to give him a big responsibility ahead of the state polls which is considered very important to the future of Johor politics.

At the same time, political speculation is also rife that several big names are being considered for nomination as candidates.

Instead of giving Ramanan a boisterous welcome, the entire AM Daily FB comment section which has garnered 5.6K likes, 2K comments and 86 shares was filled with jeers directed at the Sungai Buloh MP.

The most popular comment is one which painted “DAP as an arrogant force in Tanah Melayu because of PKR (allowing it to behave that way), hence Malaysians need to reject both DAP and PKR”.

Some commenters who are seemingly familiar with Ramanan’s antic described him as “illiterate insofar as statistics, probability & data collection are concerned” judging from his confidence of able to win 70-80 seats for PKR in the 16th general election (GE16).

Henceforth, Johorians at large must show Ramanan the exit “so that PMX (Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) is able to differentiate glass from diamond”.

Urging Johorians to reject PKR, one commenter claimed that “PMX is confronted with destruction given many party members and MPs on the verge of leaving PKR”.

The drum beat of war was so intense that many wanted PKR and by virtue of that, the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition “to he buried for good”.

Even “Hindu temples” and “pig farms” are used as insinuations as to why PH and its cronies must be rejected by all means in Johor.

Whatever the case is, one commenter mocked PKR for being a joker by appointing Ramanan who was a former MIC treasurer-general as a warlord in “Johor which is a renowned Malay/UMNO stronghold”.

Interestingly, one presumably ex-PKR member rallied for the newly revived Rafizi-powered BERSAMA to make headway in the Johor polls although many are sceptical of its influence. – June 4, 2026

Editor’s Note: BERSAMA has recently confirmed its participation in the Johor state poll with its state tour to kick off with Johor this Saturday (June 6) at at the Danga Bay Convention Centre at 8pm.
