PKR urges Hannah Yeoh not to sue Razman

PKR communications director Lee Chean Chung has urged Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh to drop her legal action against Perak PAS commissioner Razman Zakaria, as he has publicly apologised for falsely claiming she was the daughter of YTL Group’s founder.

While defending Hannah’s right to seek justice, Lee encouraged her to embrace forgiveness, especially during the Lunar New Year, in line with the spirit of Madani.

“While I defend Hannah’s right to seek justice over the factual inaccuracy regarding her being the daughter of YTL’s founder, I disagree with her proposal to take legal action against Razman.

“This is because Razman has already openly apologised to Hannah and admitted that his attempt to link the minister with the corporate figure or YTL happened unintentionally.

“In my view, such misunderstandings arise due to a lack of knowledge about the cultures of other ethnic groups in this country,” he said in a Facebook post yesterday (Jan 28).

Lee attributed the misunderstanding to a lack of cultural awareness and emphasised the importance of unity. He also criticised Razman for not verifying facts before making public statements.

Razman sparked controversy by claiming that Hannah was the daughter of the late Tan Sri Dr Yeoh Tiong Lay, the founder of YTL Group.

Following this, on Monday (Jan 27), Razman apologised to both parties for his mistake.

Razman also acknowledged his error in associating Hannah with the YTL conglomerate through a 19-second video during the “Ceramah Kebangkitan Rakyat” event in Seri Iskandar, Parit. — Jan 29, 2025
