PM announces relaxed movement restrictions for the fully vaccinated

IN view of more people getting vaccinated, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today announced several measures to ease restrictions for those have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

In a live telecast today, the premier said that the movement restriction would take effect on Aug 10 (Tuesday).

“For those who took the Pfizer, AstraZeneca and Sinovac vaccines, which required double shots, the restriction will only be eased 14 days after the second shot had been administered.

“As for the ones who got CanSino and Johnson & Johnson vaccines, which is a single shot, ease of movement restrictions will only apply 28 days after the shot had been administered,” he said.

Here are some the rules relaxation that will be enjoyed by those who are fully inoculated:

  • Citizens and non-citizens arriving to Malaysia, with homes here, are allowed to quarantine at their residence
  • Spouses staying long-distance from one another will be allowed to travel interstate or inter-district to meet
  • Parents with children below the age of 18 can travel to see the latter
  • Muslims and non-Muslims will be allowed to attend prayer sessions at their respective religious premises
  • Dine-in will be allowed at restaurants
  • Outdoor exercise will be allowed between 6am and 10pm, with social distancing measures in place

On that note, Muhyiddin reminded the people to always show their vaccination digital certificate to the premise management involved before being allowed in.

For devotees, the premier urged the administration of religious premises to check the former’s digital certificate before allowing them in.
“As for restaurants, I understand the risks involved because patrons will be taking out their face masks to eat and talk to their partners.

“Therefore, I urge all of you to only dine-in when it is absolutely necessary. As for restaurant owners, please place more tables outdoors to allow better air circulation,” Muhyiddin stressed.

Cautioning the public, the Pagoh MP said that the Government would not hesitate to revoke the “privileges” for the fully vaccinated if standard operating procedure (SOP) is not adhered to.

He added: “I have instructed the Home Ministry and all other agencies involved to keep monitoring the people’s adherence to SOP, so that COVID-19 cases would not skyrocket.” – Aug 8, 2021.
