THE Ministry of Tourism has of late been drawing fire from various quarters, recently being the Visit Malaysia 2026 video.
Apparently, the video had been turned into political salvo by the opposition who gleefully pointed out that it did not show a mosque while other houses of worship were included in the footage.

Probably in an effort to diffuse the situation, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim stated that the tourism video for Kelantan did not show a mosque either.
However, his words seemed not to resonate well among the online community. Netizens were quick to point out his folly as this would be an apple and orange comparison.
Netizen shamsul muda said, “There are no mosques or any other houses of worship in the video, which is not the same as the video where there is no mosque but the other houses of worship are present.”
He was likely referring to the latter as the Visit Malaysia 2026 video.
Another netizen said it was cheap that PMX was making a comparison between a state level video and a national video.
M.wan, however, claimed that the Kelantan tourism video did in fact showed a mosque.
“As time goes by, I am getting more and more disappointed with PMX. I am even more disappointed with the mentality of his “smart” followers,” he added.
The Rise of Kraken attributed his response to the huge support given by DAP towards PMX.
To recap, Anwar was quoted saying, “Stop struggling and arguing, defending corruption, defending wastefulness, playing racial issues, and defending major corruption. None of this will help our country.”
“We want the people to focus on important matters, not (focus on) tourism videos that don’t show the mosque, turning into a heated debate. Even the tourism video of Kelantan doesn’t show the mosque,” he added.
Some netizens were in agreement with him, such as тed who claimed that this was normal in politics, that Saudi Arabia did not show a mosque in their tourism promotional video too. —Jan 12, 2025
