PN draws flak from its cancelled TV3 Raya prayers programme but where does the money come from?

NETIZENS are ganging up in numbers to criticise Perikatan Nasional (PN) after the coalition criticised the Madani Government for allegedly ordering a cancellation of its ‘Takbir Raya’ (Chant of Raya Praises to God) programme on TV3.

Apparently, PN supporters have taken to social media to complain while attacking the government and Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil by accusing them of having a hand in the cancelled programme that was to be aired last night at 10.20pm.

“TV3 cancelled (the programme) even though we’ve paid for the broadcast. There must be people who have given the instruction,” lamented Bersatu’s Youth chief and Machang MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal in a tweet.

Responding to Wan Ahmad Fayhsal’s tweet with a laugh, netizen Cik Farah (@cikfarahintan) asked PN as to when had any political party or coalition that ever broadcast their own Takbir Raya programme on TV.

“Hahahaha, your game plan is already expected. You can lie to walaun (staunch PAS supporters) who would believe you. Just broadcast the programme on your official social. As if just looking for an issue.”

However, @InfiniBoys shared a clarification by TV3 whereby Media Prima Bhd’s sales & sales implementation (omnia) personnel Ahmad Zaidi Kamaluddin highlighted a technical issue that prevented the programme from being aired and that the station would duly refund PN the payment soonest.

This elicited a teaser from Najib Bakar (@najib_bakar_) on the likelihood that “TV3 could have realised and frightened by the fact that the money to sponsor the programme could have come from an illegal source such as Jana Wibawa”.

azlim Ibrahim (@AzlimIbrahim) went a step further by chiding the opposition camp “for being so powerful till having a lot of money to even pay for ‘air time’ to appear on TV”.

“The opposition in the past couldn’t even afford to do so.  TV3 is also great, we air if you promise to pay. In the past, don’t even expect the opposition to enter TV3,” opined the netizen.

Elsewhere, mercenary blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin (RPK) went ballistic by alluding that Fahmi who is also the PKR information chief was behind the last-minute cancellation.

Posting a photo of the Pantai MP, RPK who is being sought after by the Malaysian police foe having published defamatory content on his blog tweeted: “Even Satan upon hearing the azan (call to prayer) or takbir will run helter-skelter in fear. That’s why TV3 bans the Takbir Raya on TV.”

Interestingly, RPK got a taste of his own medicine when netizen eFJei (@mrfirdausjailan) berated him. “Are you implying that those who takbir on TV last night (April 21) were all devils? Instead of becoming more literate after having stayed abroad for a long time but instead only becoming blinder.” – April 22, 2023
