PN MP Wan Fayhsal gets blasted yet again, this time for trusting a Facebook post

PERIKATAN Nasional (PN) lawmaker Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal clarified that his recent remarks about people selling their kidneys to make ends meet were based on Facebook posts seeking Employee Provident Fund (EPF) withdrawals.

But despite his explanations, the internet is not letting go of what users say is his ‘ignorance’ to put full trust in a Facebook post.

Other users are alleging the post is dated from 2022, the time when Wan’s party was in power in Putrajaya. If this is true, it makes it worse for the PN MP.

To recall, Wan Fayhsal claimed that he intended to convey the grievances of those in need of EPF withdrawals and not to condone or encourage organ trading.

Nevertheless, quoting a Facebook post and saying that he probably did not investigate before making his statement, as evidenced in Parliament shows a lack of professionalism.

He faced criticism after he alleged that people were selling their kidneys to cope with financial difficulties, prompting Bandar Kuching MP Kelvin Yii to urge him to file a police report to support his claim.

Dr Abdul Jabbar Ismail, a doctor-cum-organ donation expert, expressed concern that Wan Ahmad Fayhsal’s claim could harm organ donation efforts.

There were speculations that Wan Ahmad Fayhsal may have gotten this information based on a viral TikTok video by user @daddy_keacy who claimed he was driven by desperation to sell his kidney.

However, there was no confirmation from the MP himself on the matter.

“I got the information from Facebook posts,” Wan Ahmad Fayhsal said.

Twitter user @SyedAkramin, blasted the PN MP for putting his trust in Facebook posts on the allegations he made in Parliament that Malaysians are selling their kidneys due to economic difficulties.

“Ignorance belongs to Wan Fayhsal. Studied in London but blindly believe what people write on Facebook.”

User @violetain36 alleged:

The user is saying to Wan Faysal.. “the date of the person who wants to sell the kidney is 17/01/2022.. which gov time is that?

“What did you and your gov do at that time? You just swiped the FB post, now you want to read it? To what extent to be a hero who speaks up?”

The whacking does not end there.

A user on Twitter, @PuteriMinang had this to say about the ‘Scholar’ who was sponsored by Khazanah.

“Khazanah scholar who is not very bright. Shame on Yayasan Khazanah & King’s College!” — April 8, 2023
