PN talks of gov’t change after KKB, Azmin holds back on ‘revelations’ against PH

CANDIDATES from the unity government and Perikatan Nasional arrived at the Kuala Kubu Bharu State Legislative Assembly (DUN) by-election nomination centre for the nomination day.

It will be a three-way fight with DAP Pang Sock Tao who is also the Press Secretary to the Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming standing for the unity government.  Her opponent is Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate Khairul Azhari.

An independent candidate Nyau Ke Xin appeared at the last minute at the Kuala Kubu Bharu DUN Candidate Nomination Center this morning.

PN Chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, arrived with coalition supporters before proceeding to the Kuala Kubu Bharu State Legislative Assembly (DUN) By-Election Nomination Center at the Multipurpose Hall and Hulu Selangor District Sports Complex.

Notable figures accompanied the unity government candidate. They are Deputy Prime Minister and BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Selangor BN chairman Datuk Megat Zulkarnain Omardin and UMNO Secretary General Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki.

Also present to back the PH candidate is former Selangor menteri besar Tan Sri Muhammad Muhammad Taib.

Earlier, DAP Chairman Lim Guan Eng and Human Resources Minister Steven Sim arrived at the unity government supporter’s tent in support of the coalition government candidate.

Also present to show support were DAP secretary-general and Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook, DAP Selangor Chairman and Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo and AMANAH vice president Datuk Mahfuz Omar.

Meanwhile, in the run-up to the nomination day, Selangor PN chairman Datuk Seri Azmin Ali vowed to reveal all on May 11 regarding a police report against him over allegations of misappropriation in PKNS.

He asserted, “Whatever the state government does to silence PN will be exposed.”

Azmin questions PKNS’ sale of development rights, suggesting financial discrepancies. Selangor MB Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari denies financial woes, stating PKNS remains profitable.

Azmin’s bold promise signifies his determination to address alleged abuses of power.

PN seems to focus its campaign on unpopular measures taken by the PH-Barisan Nasional (BN) government, including the alleged abuse of opposition supporters and the muzzling of their voices on social media.

The PN machinery is also pressing on the perceived economic downturn, with the Ringgit’s instability about the US Dollar in focus.

However, DAP leader Loke indicated that for the ruling government, these elections are about the woes of the people in KKB, including the need for continuity of the DAP-PH rule in the constituency with the presence of a female candidate to replace Lee Kee Hiong who passed away in March this year.

While the PN candidate may focus on Nga’s recent remarks that have attracted the ire of many among the Malay-Muslim community, the DAP candidate is set to focus her commitment on community-specific issues to divert attention from the 3R issues. – April 27, 2024
