Kickstarting the Gilbert & Friends Fashion Fiesta is the new fashion brand, Cyra which made its debut on the runway with an eye-popping avant-garde flowy black and white and colourful fashion collection.

Speaking to the FocusM team, the organiser of the Fiesta and founder of the fashion brand Gilbert Headhunter, Gilbert Francis Untam, “Our Fiesta serves as a platform to showcase our very own Malaysian fashion brands and the creative potential of Malaysia’s young designers.”

“That is why we have eight talented students from ESMOD The One Academy coming aboard to unleash their hidden fashion artistry with a unique Neo Zeitgeist (“new mood”) theme, reinterpreting the past, present and future to create a new wave of fashion innovation,” he added.

To further spice up the event, Meet Fashion conducted an Oprah Winfrey-styled Fashion Talk on stage with ESMOD The One Academy Fashion Design Course Leader from Paris, Andrea Guerot and two students, Ai Lin and Yu Jie as well as Cyra Founder Nazly Ibrahim and Gilbert Headhunter Founder Untam all sharing their knowledge and views of their fashion.

The Fiesta ended with a dazzling sustainable fashion showcase by Gilbert Headhunter. Steeped in tradition, the fashion paid tribute to the rich cultural heritage of Borneo natives and nature by using sustainable materials and recycled fabrics. – Sept 15, 2024
