A NEPALESE national being probed for allegedly abusing a cat at a Kota Kemuning apartment will remain in custody for another 14 days as authorities look into possible immigration offences.
According to Shah Alam’s Acting District Police Chief, Superintendent Ramsay Anak Embol, investigations revealed that the 33-year-old man holds a valid passport but lacks a legal work permit.
Police believe he has been living in Malaysia for around six years and had recently been employed as a security guard at the apartment complex, having started the job about two months ago.
“Early checks showed that the Nepalese man, who is single, did not possess the required work permit. His immigration remand has therefore been extended for two more weeks to facilitate further inquiries,” Ramsay said on Wednesday.
The case first came to light when a couple returned to their unit and allegedly caught the man naked and engaging in sexual acts with a cat on the fourth floor. He reportedly threw the animal over the balcony before escaping.
The suspect was later detained at 4.45am on Saturday and was initially remanded for five days, until 19 November, under Section 377 and Section 428 of the Penal Code.
Investigators believe the incident may have occurred while the man was under the influence of alcohol. —Nov 19, 2025
