Police officer struck by Hilux during ASEAN traffic duty: Who is in the wrong?

ACCIDENTS are part and parcel of driving on the road. But we can all attest to the fact that some accidents can be worse than others, far worse. Besides the risk of human lives being lost, there is also all that hassle of making a report at the police station and more.

That is unless the victim is the police man himself as seen in a video post by netizen @update11111.

According to him, the video was a recording from a dashcam at KM 22.3 of the ELITE highway, near the road out from the resting area at Dengkil towards the north.

“Other information as well as the date of the accident cannot be confirmed,” he said, adding that the victim was a police officer who was controlling the traffic due to the ASEAN summit.

It appears the vehicle that collided against the officer was a black Hilux. Interestingly, a good number of netizens were up in support for the Hilux driver.

“95% of accidents involving a car and a motorcycle is the motorcyclist’s fault. It’s ok. They get to meet the maker faster. That’s why they choose to ride like idiots,” said @izukaofficial.

Also, @bk201my pointed out that the driver was unable to see the police officer since he was approaching his blindspot. Another netizen said he would be more than happy to make way for an ambulance, but not for some VIP on the road.

Then there were others who said the officer should not cut into the Hilux’s lane just like that. The video sure opens up a good deal of questions on who is right or wrong here.  But one thing is certain. It is never a good day to crash one’s car into a police officer. —Oct 26, 2025
