Political aide: Hadi Awang has no intention of evading the cops

PAS president Tan Sri Hadi Awang has no intention to avoid meeting with the police.

His political secretary Syahir Sulaiman made such clarification in light of several accusations that the Marang MP was unwell and tried to avoid meeting the police to have his statement taken.

“There is a confusion here as TS Hadi did receive treatment on Saturday morning (Sept 2) at the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital in Kuala Terengganu which took between three and four hours,” he told a media conference at the PAS headquarters at Jalan Raja Laut this afternoon.

Syahir stated that the hospital engagement would have caused a delay to Hadi’s arrival in Kuala Lumpur for the purpose of having his statement recorded by the police (as per the original schedule).

“I therefore informed the police about the matter at 8am on Sept 2 but some media reported that TS Hadi was unwell and was trying to avoid meeting the police,” explained the Bachok MP.

“Therefore, I would like to confirm that TS Hadi is in good health and has never attempted to evade the police for if not for his impeding treatment, matters pertaining to his statement would have been resolved on that day (Sept 2) itself at 4pm.”

Following this, Syahir said the police then agreed to fix a new date which was 11.30am today for Hadi’s statement to be taken.

“This proves that there was no attempt on the part of TS Hadi to trick or avoid meeting with the police as claimed by some parties,” asserted the economic analyst by qualification.

Above all else, Syahir said Hadi provided full cooperation by giving evidence to the police officer from the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department for almost an hour.

“TS Hadi himself has given good answers to every question posed by the police regarding his statement which was believed to have disputed the authority of the Pardons Board during a ceramah at the party’s Johor headquarters in Bakri, Muar last week,” revealed Syahir.

“This itself is the truth which shall free TS Hadi from allegations that he has attempted to avoid meeting the police.” – Sept 4, 2023
