“Politics above all”: Netizens slam Govt for bringing back Muhyiddin

IRATE by former Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s new job at the National Recovery Council (NRC), the public and Opposition politicians took to social media to vent out their frustrations.

“After so much public anger and protests, we kicked him out of office only for him to return as chair. They really think we’re fools. ‘Minister status’”, said user Dr Thanussha.

PKR MP Sim Tze Tzin added: Monday – 70 Ministers, Wednesday – 3 duta (Envoy) Minister status, Saturday – 1 chairman Minister. Total 74… All within 1 week. Tahniah (congratulations).

Yesterday, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali announced that Muhyiddin would be chairing the NRC.

He added that the decision was agreed upon by the Cabinet and Istana Negara was aware of it. The position is equivalent to a ministerial rank.

PKR secretary general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail was unimpressed with Muhyiddin’s new appointment and reminded the Government on how the latter failed to contain COVID-19 and rejuvenate the economy during his 17-months tenure.

This was not the first time the new Government courted controversy as Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob was also criticised for retaining almost all of the previous faces in his new Cabinet line-up.

Don’t take up the post, Muhyiddin

On that note, user Ken asked the Government on why Muhyiddin was appointed to the job despite Malaysia having a pool of talented people across the nation.

User Mickey McRead gave his views on the matter, stating it was basically done for the sake of political expediency.

“Basically’ you scratch my back and I will scratch yours’. It is a shameless for Malaysia to have politicians like these.
Never put the nation interest first but own greed. Enough for all the ‘drama’ we will vote you out!”

DAP MP M Kula Segaran remarked: “Muhyiddin must be magnanimous to decline the appointment as Chairman of Majlis Pemulihan Negara.

“The 18 months of governing the country was nothing short of a complete failure.”- Sept 5, 2021.
