Positive cases nationwide remain above 4k mark; Selangor tops infection rate

THE Health Ministry (MOH) has reported 4,113 COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the cumulative total to 462,190.

In a tweet, Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also reported that 4,190 patients have recovered from the infection, with the total discharged now stands at 418,897.

He noted that out of the total new cases recorded, 4,112 cases were local transmissions while out of 4,112 locally transmitted cases, 3,791 of them were locals while 321 were foreigners.

Currently, there are 41,471 active cases, in which 482 patients are still in receiving treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU), with 250 of them in need of ventilator support.

Dr Noor Hisham also announced that 34 people have succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of fatalities to 1,822.

Selangor recorded the highest number of cases again (1,269), followed by Sarawak (533) and Kelantan (371). – May 14, 2021
