MOVES are underway to weaken Umno by embarking on a “Sheraton Move” like maneuvering called the “Seri Pacific Move”, claimed party supreme council member Datuk Puad Zarkashi.
“On Aug 3, the Umno supreme council agreed to pull out support from the Perikatan Nasional Government.
“All members including the deputy prime minister, ministers, deputy ministers and heads of Government-linked companies (GLC) agreed to relinquish their posts.
“Now, they are doing a U-turn. They refuse to resign and decided to ramp up support for Prime Minister Tan Sri Mahiaddin Yassin and Perikatan,” he told FocusM.
While several Umno leaders have followed through Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s directive such as Lenggong MP Datuk Shamsul Anuar Nasarah and Umno vice president Datuk Seri Khaled Nordin, other have openly defied the decision.
Those who have decided to back Mahiaddin include Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, Besut MP Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh and Arau MP Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim.
On that note, Puad alleged: “The Seri Pacific Move’s objective is plain and simple; getting all Umno MPs who withdrew their support from Perikatan to rescind on their decision,” – Aug 5, 2021
