THEY say good things come in pairs. But at times – especially if one is arrogant and unremorseful – bad things, too, can come in pair.
Well, former Prasarana Malaysia Bhd non-executive chairman Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman who has been making headlines for the wrong reason since Tuesdays (May 25) light rail transit (LRT) tragedy, has landed himself into hot soup following his detention by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) yesterday on two charges of abuse of power.
News portal The Vibes learnt that the Pasir Salak MP was arrested after he presented himself for questioning at the MACC headquarters here yesterday afternoon but was released on oral bail (jaminan mulut) which is usually accorded to government servants in the evening.
“He was, in fact, supposed to have been charged yesterday itself. However, the MACC is still awaiting instructions from the Attorney-General’s Chambers,” reported The Vibes.
“Details of the charges are not immediately available but Tajuddin has been previously accused of interfering with Prasarana’s operations and business dealings, where allegations of conflict of interest had surfaced.”
Apart from MACC, Tajuddin who was axed from as Prasarana’s head honcho on Wednesday (May 26) in a termination letter signed by Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz, is also being probed by the police for not donning a face mask during his last – and damning – media conference.
“Police are investigating the incident under Section 21A of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 and Regulation 17 (1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures in Local Areas of Infection) Regulations 2021,” Dang Wangi district police chief ACP Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said in a recent statement. – May 28, 2021
