ProtectHealth: Register for COVID-19 booster shots on PPV waitlist

PROTECTHEALTH has urged those who are eligible but have not received the MySejahtera appointment for their booster shots to register on the waitlist at the vaccination centres (PPV) of their choice.

ProtectHealth Corporation Sdn Bhd (ProtectHealth) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of ProtectHealth Malaysia, established under the Health Ministry (MOH).

This announcement is in response to Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar’s announcement on Dec 28 that Malaysia has set a three-month interval period for COVID-19 booster shots for Pfizer and AstraZeneca (AZ) recipients.

Khairy said that appointments for the booster doses will be decided based on certain criteria such as age de-escalation and health status.

Prior to this, Sinovac was the only COVID-19 vaccine approved for a three-month interval period for booster jabs.

Regulatory bodies such as those in the UK, Canada and Australia as well as a panel of health experts have also recommended that the time interval for booster dose vaccination can be given as early as three months after receiving the primary vaccine.

According to ProtectHealth, here are the steps to be taken:

  1. Go to ProtectHealth’s website at http://www.protecthealth.com.my and select Find Vaccination Centre (PPV).
  2. Find your preferred vaccination centre registered under ProtectHealth. The vaccination ventre list will be updated from time to time.
  3. Call your preferred or nearest PPV for registration. You may also e-mail or go to the PPV to register. Individuals are advised to register at one PPV of a private health facility to avoid double booking.
  4. Those who have successfully registered will be on a waitlist after the registration and will be contacted by the ProtectHealth PPV in the event of an appointment cancellation or no shows by others who have appointments via MySejahtera.

In addition, there are also off-site vaccination centres (PPVs), which are also listed on the ProtectHealth website, with the capacity ranging from 500 to 3,000 booster doses given per day.

Registration for the waitlist at the ProtectHealth vaccination centres (PPVs) is free.

To date, there are 1,951 private health facility PPVs (private clinics, private specialist hospitals, private hospitals and ambulatory care centres), 76 off-site PPVs and 72 outreach PPVs under ProtectHealth.

As of Dec 28, 2021, a total of 3,975,744 booster doses have been administered since commencement on Oct 27, 2021. – Dec 31, 2021
