ProtectHealth wants more paediatricians to join vaccination programme

PROTECTHEALTH Corp Sdn Bhd has urged more paediatricians to participate in the National COVID-19 Vaccination for Children (PICKids) programme.

The Health Ministry affiliate said that paediatricians have always been allowed to administer vaccination.

Paediatricians can vaccinate at any of the vaccination centres (PPVs) and can join as a participating specialist clinic or through private hospital PPVs if they are providing services in private hospitals, ProtectHealth said.

To date more than 900 general practitioners, 48 private clinics and four paediatric specialty clinics have joined the PICKids programme, said ProtectHealth executive director Datuk Dr Anas Alam Faizli.

We urge more Paediatricians to join in this national agenda to protect our families. Please visit our website at https://vaksincovid.protecthealth.com.my for registration to provide the vaccination service,” he said.

According to Dr Anas the number of COVID-19 cases among children have been increasing rapidly and this also involved severe conditions and fatalities.

“We are also worried about the Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome (MISC) in children. As such we appeal to parents to ensure your children are protected against the COVID-19 virus. Please protect our children and our family, and by doing this we will protect everyone,” he remarked.

According to the COVIDNOW portal, as of Tuesday (March 22), a total of 1.27 million or 35.8% children in Malaysia aged five to 11 years had received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Meanwhile, 2.94 million adolescents aged 12 to 17 years or 94.6% of the age group had received their first dose while 2.84 million or 91.5% had received two doses of the vaccine. – March 23, 2022
