Proud mom goes viral for her reaction watching infant daughter walk

Interestingly, one of the greatest joys of being a parent is to witness your little clones performing simple things which are huge for their age.

In a video post on X by netizen The Figen, a proud mother went viral for her reaction when she saw her daughter taking her first step.

The mother who was browsing through her phone leapt up in shock when her infant daughter stood up briefly to execute several brief steps.

She immediately engaged her phone, likely to film a video but the baby girl returned to a seated position.

Fortunately, the CCTV camera pointing towards the balcony was able to immortalise the moment.

The online community was abuzz with many calling it out as heartwarming. Netizen Dave Legacy claimed he was there when his son first did it.

Like always , once you get your phone out is too late, happens always,” said Judy.

However, a few others pointed out that mummy should not be spending too much time on her phone or she will miss out on these simple but precious moments.

J B added that she would record and send it to her friends instead of being present to congratulate her daughter.

On a separate note, what to expect, a parental website said babies take their first step soon after learning to stand, within a few days or months.

Once they start standing, it takes plenty of practice, lots of trials and errors before they master walking.

While some babies take their first steps before turning one, many start walking around 14 months on average.

Babies often begin by cruising, or walking while holding onto furniture, usually around 9 or 10 months. When they begin letting go of the furniture, parents may see those first unsteady steps.

The website added that most children walk independently between 12 to 15 months. However, if the child is not walking by 18 months, it is a good idea to consult a pediatrician. —Jan 21, 2025
