Puad inquires about the schedule for Syed Saddiq’s court judgment

UMNO supreme working council member Datuk Dr Puad Zarkashi is curious about the court sentence of defected MUDA leader and Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.“Syed Saddiq has already finished defending himself in March 2023. When will the sentence be handed down?

“In October 2022, the court ruled that prima facie exists in the RM1 mil party money case. Syed Saddiq was ordered to defend himself. Didn’t Perikatan Nasional (PN) and the Bar Council hold a demonstration?” penned Puad in a Facebook post.In April, Deputy Public Prosecutor Datuk Wan Shaharuddin Wan Ladin told the High Court that the former Bersatu Youth chief must be found guilty of corruption as his defence has failed to raise reasonable doubt in the prosecution’s case.Wan Shaharuddin stated that the prima facie case established at the close of the prosecution’s case was left “unshaken” by the testimony offered by defence witnesses. That was five months ago and at that time, High Court Judge Datuk Azhar Abdul Hamid announced that the outcome of Syed Saddiq’s case would be decided later. The MUDA president faces four charges of abetting a breach of trust, misappropriation of property and money laundering. It is related to a RM1 mil fund when he led Bersatu’s youth wing called Armada. He left Bersatu in 2020 to follow the resigning former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad in the opposition.Syed Saddiq was re-elected to the Muar Parliament in November 2022 after a tough fight against an UMNO and a PN-PAS candidate.Furthermore, Syed Saddiq criticised the Pakatan Harapan (PH) unity government saying that they have crossed the red line in what he calls a travesty of justice with the discharge not amounting to acquittal (DNAA) of Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. He has since left the government bench to become an opposition MP in Parliament. He rejected all calls for him to quit as an MP and fight his way back into Parliament. Some PH leaders say he won the Muar seat with the help of the PH. – Sept 17, 2023
