BERSATU Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal who lamented being treated as “enemy of state” after Dewan Rakyat speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul ordered his banning from the public gallery should just stay away from the august house to honour his six-month suspension.
Instead of turning up at the Parliament on the pretext of lending moral support to the opposition camp, he could just follow Parliament proceedings at the comfort of his house or just focus on looking after the welfare and well-being of his Machang parliamentary constituents.
Hence, why must he stoop so low to show up since Dewan Rakyat proceedings for the current session commenced on Oct 14? Such is a synopsis of comments from netizens after Wan Fayhsal cried foul of not being allowed to follow Dewan Rakyat proceedings from the so-called public gallery.
“He’s not great after all … just looking for sympathy, pity and popularity from his supporters … a MP who has no quality when debating… Just spend the time on self-reflection … People are watching,” opined a commenter on Wan Fayhsal’s Facebook page where he likened Johari’s action against him as “having gone overboard”.
Another netizen suggested that the Perikatan Nasional (PN) lawmaker could have spent his suspension time between July 18 and Jan 18, 2025 “to formulate an alternative Budget 2025 to enable the people to make an easier choice come GE16 (16th General Election”.
“Who asked you to play poison pen letter till become a threat to the Malaysian government? Already got suspended yet still wants to find trouble,” teased a commenter while another summed up the entire situation as “when one gets suspended from school, the headmaster will be agitated if he still turns up in school to play football”.
For the record, Johari has barred Wan Fayhsal who was suspended after referencing a poison pen letter during debates on the Human Rights Commission report on July 18 from the pubic gallery despite him “not opening his mouth” via a letter dated Oct 15.
“However, you can still be in the compound of the Malaysian Parliament Complex to follow live Dewan Rakyat proceedings,” noted Johari which hinted that contrary to Wan Fayhsal’s claim, he was not completely banned from the Parliament.
In his defence, Wan Fayhsal further lamented why DAP’s retired supremo Tan Sri Lim Kit Siang (then Gelang Patah MP) who was also suspended from the Dewan Rakyat for six months in 2018 was allowed to show up at the public gallery as well as “sit in his own seat and listen to the proceedings though he wasn’t allowed to speak”.
Whatever the case is, opposition leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, PN chief whip Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan (PAS-Kota Bahru) and deputy chief whip Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee (Beluran MP) had stood up to challenge the action against Wan Fayhsal on the basis that “these are seemingly new conditions” – Oct 22, 2024
