“Put a full-stop to racial issues, discrimination through GE15”

I WOULD like to take this opportunity to thank the DAP leadership for their trust in me to allow me to represent Klang people in the upcoming 15th general election (GE15).

I also would like to thank and send my utmost appreciation to Charles Santiago for his services and support as well as encouraging words towards me. I promise that I will continue the great work done by our fellow comrades.

The mandate has been returned to the people of Malaysia to choose their future leaders who can administer the country at its best through the announcement of the dissolution of Parliament by the caretaker prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

This is the day most Malaysians were waiting for including politicians like myself. We are not disagreeing with the dissolution, but we are unhappy with the timing of it.

As monsoon season is approaching and many areas are already flooding. I personally experienced one of the worst flooding situation last year when the whole Sri Muda submerged in flood where many of the people were trapped in their homes without food, drinking water, electricity and medicines.

The trauma is real and is still haunting many of us. I have been working tirelessly from day one of the incident.

The federal government’s poor management can be seen during the flood season last year. This will be the biggest failure of the federal government and please remember this while casting your vote in the forthcoming GE15.

Many racial issues and discrimination have been happening around us recently. Most of these issues are purposely raised by Barisan Nasional (BN) and PAS to undermine the democratically elected Pakatan Harapan (PH) government in 2018.

The death of young firefighter Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim who perished in the 2018 Seafield riot as well as the protests concerning the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (ICERD), the Rome Statute and the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) are all examples of planned attacks against the PH government.

As we are witnessing now, Adib’s issue has become a non-issue for the BN-PAS-PN government as they had failed to identify the real cause of his death and could not even close the case until today. Shameful!

These racial issues and discrimination will continue as long as BN and PAS are in the government. The only difference is that these issues will be intensified if they become the opposition.

Therefore, I urge you to think clearly and cast your votes wisely in the upcoming election. Think of the future of our country, our children and our community. The power is in your hands.

Would you rather have corrupted and opportunistic politicians as your leaders, or untainted ones who are dedicated to serving the people?

Let the upcoming GE15 be the only opportunity to end racism and racial discrimination issues in Malaysia. – Oct 27, 2022
