A TOTAL of 36 residents from Putra Heights have filed a lawsuit over the April 1 gas pipeline explosion that destroyed homes and injured hundreds.
The Topaz and Citrine residents’ committee said in a statement that the suit was filed at the Shah Alam High Court through Tan Sri Tommy Thomas’ law firm, led by the former attorney-general.
Petronas Gas Bhd, Hong & Hong Homes Sdn Bhd, Pinterest Ventures Sdn Bhd, the Subang Jaya City Council, and the Malaysian government are named as respondents.
“Children are traumatised, waking at night in fear. We are all still searching for answers and accountability.
“By filing this civil suit, we seek not only compensation for what we have lost, including our homes, our health and our peace of mind, but we also seek truth and accountability,” the residents said.
They alleged the disaster was “man-made and wholly preventable”, claiming that gas lines ran “dangerously close” beneath their homes and that safety safeguards were inadequate.
Flames from the Petronas gas line shot more than 30 metres into the air during the incident, destroying 81 houses and damaging over 200 others in total. — Oct 18, 2025
