ONE wonders if former twice premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is aware that Malaysians are both bored and disgusted with his incessant harping on his distorted notion of race.
Yesterday (July 26) alone, the Proklamasi Melayu chief advocate dished out three self-serving racial-centric social media posts probably in his last-ditch attempt to rally his audience to support a cause which is seen as very damaging to the future of this country.
Aptly entitled “3R Laws”, “Race” and “Multi-racialism”, it is regrettable how the elderly statesman could one day arrive at this degree of desperation – more so in his twilight years – to allow the very last drop of respect that Malaysians have for his legacy as the father of modern Malaysia to be wiped away.
Instead of calling it a day by spending precious moments with his loved ones or pursing a desirable pastime, the nonagenarian is presently renowned for sowing discord and inciting racial tension via his anti-multiracialism conviction which culminates in him crossing over to the religiously fanatical ‘green side’.
As the two forces of race and religion combine, one can only envision the dimming prospect of Malaysians co-existing as a single race without identifying oneself as a Malay, Chinese, Indian, Iban or Kadazan for that matter.
If nothing is done to curtail both devilish forces from expanding their misleading wisdom to the minds of young Malaysians – a task which is made easy with the advent of multiple social media channels – expect the Malaysian unity to find itself in a precarious position with even a high probability of being torn apart –gradually but surely – over time.
With the six state polls now round the corner, one can only expect Dr Mahathir to go into overdrive to churn out more ‘racist chants’ alongside his newfound brethren Tan Sri Hadi Awang or foe-turn-friend Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
Well, frustrated Malaysians can simply turn a blind eye to his social media postings but surely, they cannot help not fathoming the devastation from the misguided influence he has instilled on the tens if not hundreds of thousands of youthful or millennial Malaysians who believe in him.

Below are some reactions from sensible netizens to the three social media posts above (in verbatim form):
Jian Le Tan: Still not tired talking about race? You not tired we malaysia felt extremely tired and bored with you keep stirring the race issue in politic.
Can you just stop talking about race and talk about how we Malaysian move forward together to be a better nation?
Ng Wei Cheng: Ermmm…. someone is talking about it … every other day … publicly during ceramah and make FB posting … and he is still a freeman as of now.
Jack Lee: Everyday non-stop spewing of venom spit like a volcano. With all this hateful and bitterness in your heart and soul, doesn’t it feel uneasy at this late twilight of life?
Hendry Rao: Tun during your tenure, you bent the law so much till you can’t recognise it after you left your tenure. Please retire, Tun.
Sherin Lim: When my late father said you are evil, you engineered racial content to create disharmony. I could not relate. Now it’s very clear what he meant.
Zuhairy Fauzy: Mahathir, you’re 98 years old. You lost your deposit in the last election. Now you’re sleeping with Abdul Hadi Awang.
Mahmood Kamsani Mustapha: There is no issue here. The subject matter is about provocation that could lead to civil unrest like May 13. Realising the danger that it might recur in this PRN (state polls), the government has taken the initiative to declare the 3R as sensitive issues to be avoided during the campaign.
Now this desperate old man is trying to make an issue for his own interest. (Former) Australian PM Paul Keating accused him of being recalcitrant which is very correct. He never learn. Likely that he would end up like Kamal Atatrurk of Turkey.
A-Aziz H Isse: Malays are allowed to talk about their problems. Chinese and Indians must also talk about their problems. If you add all, it becomes national problems. The only way to solve is to address those on national level.
You have been rejected by the Malays, now you want to antagonise the minorities and portray yourself as the saviour of the Malay race. Sultans have that responsibility and there is no problems facing any single race from the other races. Unity is what the sultans called for after the new government was formed.
You are inciting racial tensions. You use racism in order to win over Malay votes. PAS seems to you as the easiest one (platform). But you threw them under the bus last time. They must not listen to you. Your ideas are expired.
Malays can only win by education and hard work as did the Chinese in Taiwan, mainland China and those in Malaysia. You must tell the Malays to work hard and smart and unite their forces in building the manufacturing businesses. Don’t poison the minds of young Malays who are the hope of Malaysia.
