ECONOMY Minister Rafizi Ramli has cleared up the confusion over his ministry’s central database hub (PADU) and the Finance Ministry’s Budi Madani programme.
Speaking to reporters after launching the Oil & Gas Services and Equipment (OGSE) census today (June 6), PADU contains household income data whereas Budi Madani focuses on disbursing assistance – such as the recently-announced diesel cash subsidies – based on the individual recipient’s information, reported FMT.
“PADU focuses more on household data.
“We started Budi Madani with diesel subsidies to assist individuals as diesel usage is not as significant as RON95 petrol usage.”
Rafizi said asked to respond to concerns that were raised on the need for diesel vehicle owners to register with Budi Madani when they have previously already submitted their information to PADU.
The Finance Ministry unveiled the Budi Madani diesel subsidy aid programme on May 27 where eligible recipients as well as agriculture and commodity smallholders will receive RM200 per month.
The PADU database, meanwhile, is a national database system that contains profiles of Malaysian citizens as well as permanent residents.
Launched on January 2 by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the PADU database will pave the way towards a fairer distribution of targeted subsidies for Malaysians in need. – June 6, 2024
