Rafizi hits back at Azmin: “My formula kept fuel prices at RM2.05”

ECONOMY Minister Rafizi Ramli has responded strongly to former Economic Cluster senior minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali’s comments that the PKR deputy president has to prove he can fix the economy before there is a debate between them.

Rafizi replied on Twitter saying it’s a pity that Azmin is worried that his record as economy minister will be questioned.

“Poor thing. He’s worried about his record during his tenure as economy minister will be questioned. To avoid arguing, he imposed a condition to lower fuel prices first.

“If not for the formula that I campaigned for earlier, the price of RON95 would now be around RM3.10. No worries, let’s wait for the true commander of Perikatan Nasional (PN), the caretaker Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor 🤣”

Rafizi added that the current price of RON95 is mainly because of the formula that has been in use so far.

Moreover, Azmin said he was ready for a debate with Rafizi but he then set some extreme conditions.

He stated that the condition is that Rafizi must first prove he has been successful in implementing his plans and help in the recovery of the country’s economy.

In a sense, it means Azmin is not agreeing to a debate with Rafizi at the moment.

“Rafizi, I am willing to debate with you on the condition that you first prove your success in implementing and recovering the country’s economy. First, lower the fuel price. It’s not my promise, it’s your promise.

‘Today I become the Prime Minister (Anwar), tomorrow the fuel price will go down… Has it gone down yet? If it hasn’t, lower it first before meeting me,” Azmin touted in a speech during a PN campaign launch in Gombak. – July 28, 2023
