Rafizi pleads to non-Malay PH members to understand Malay sensitivity

DEPUTY PKR president Rafizi Ramli has made a clarion call to his non-Malay comrades to understand the feelings and sensitivities of the Malays so as not to give ammunition to UMNO, PAS and Bersatu to undermine the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition.

He stressed that the entire party level has to accept the fact that Malay voters are sometimes afraid to vote for PH because of the actions of “a few people in PH who are not sensitive to the feelings of the Malays”.

The aspirant Pandan MP in the 15th General Election (GE15) has earmarked two key matters, namely (i) avoid touching on racial matters; and (ii) avoid touching on matters that are considered as Malay institutions, including the constitutional monarch, the national language, the position of Islam.

“It is best that non-Malays do not attack the personality of Malay opposition leader, especially if the leader has a religious background,” he penned in his latest Facebook post without naming any examples.

“That is sensitive because it can be twisted like a non-Muslim insulting a Muslim. Let us as Muslims deal with them or expose them.”

On the same note, Rafizi also assured non-Malay PKR members to trust their fellow Malay members to fight against those who abuse their power in UMNO PAS or Bersatu. “We are not the type to hide behind the name of the Malay agenda to eventually destroy the country,” he pointed out.

On the bright side, Rafizi said although “the number of these insensitive people is not many”, UMNO, PAS and Bersatu are likely to play up the issue of racism once they are not careful in making statements, “hence giving them a chance to cover up their corrupt practices and weakness of their administration.”

“This is a great loss to the people and the country … as if a rotten apple spoils the whole barrel. What do we need to do to deal with the racist weapons of UMNO PAS and Bersatu then?” he asked.

“There are friends in PH who request that we Malays in PKR explain the real situation to the Malays. This is what we do continuously.”

According to Rafizi, he has emerged one of the most vocal in rejecting racism and exposing the corruption and weaknesses within the government’s administration machinery so that the Malays do not forget about the racist games of UMNO PAS and Bersatu. – Nov 11, 2022
