Ramasamy-led Urimai will join PN to take Pakatan to Electoral Court if ruling coalition wins KKB polls

CONSIDERING the blatant abuse of power and the illegal use of public assets and machinery by the Pakatan Harapan (PH)-led government, the United Rights of the Malaysian Party (Urimai) will have no choice but to take the government to the Electoral Court if the PH/DAP candidate wins the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election this Saturday (May 11).

(Editor’s Note: PN chief whip Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan had earlier expressed a similar sentiment if outcome of the by-election goes against its candidate given there have been clear instances of PH having abused government assets in the run-up to the KKB by-election.)

At the outset of political campaigning in KKB, it has become very clear that the PH-led government which is very desperate to win the polls has abused public assets and machinery to ensure the positive outcome of the election.

In terms of assets, the government has pledged RM5.21 mil for development projects in the Hulu Selangor parliamentary constituency.  KKB is in this parliamentary constituency apart from Hulu Bernam and Batang Kali.

Furthermore, the government has announced a RM75 mil housing project for workers in five estates in Selangor (such an announcement should have been made before or after the KKB election). Two of the estates are in the KKB constituency.

Beyond this, there other instances of “vote buying” by political parties in the PH-Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition and related parties.

Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming has recently unveiled a plan to build 245 affordable houses for families of estate farm workers in Selangor. An estimated 1,250 people will receive benefits from the Federal government’s effort.

If the PH-led government wins the election, then such a victory would not have been possible without the illegal and immoral use of public assets and government machinery.

Urimai has advised its lawyer to look into the matter seriously because the use of public assets, machinery and other forms of vote-buying are against the law in the country and forbidden by the Election Commission (EC). – May 8, 2024
