Ramsamy’s Urimai shall champion plight of SJKT Ladang Kinrara’s ‘forced’ partial relocation

I AM rather amused as to why a school board member of SJKT Ladang Kinrara in Puchong, Selangor is so concerned about a viralled video that might contain “outdated” information deemed offensive to the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).

If I am not mistaken, DBKL has already instructed the Land and Mines Department and the local council to identity a piece of land to relocate some parts of the Ladang Kinrara Tamil school that might be acquired for the widening of the existing road into four lanes.

Apparently, the need for an alternative land to relocate parts of the Tamil school was based on the decision taken in a meeting between the DBKL, the school board, its PIBG (parent teacher association), Seputeh MP Teresa Kok, Batu MP P. Prabakaran and the relevant government departments.

The idea to relocate parts of Tamil school measuring 3,000 sq feet was essentially to ensure that the developer complies with the traffic requirements of building additional units of housing.

Proposals

My 10 questions are very straightforward:

# 1 – Why was the developer given the permission to build additional units of housing knowing very well that the area is congested?

Long before the approval of the planning and building permission, the presence of SJKT Ladang Kinrara was something conspicuous. In fact, a responsible DBKL should have rejected the housing plan of the developer.

Why didn’t DBKL give permission or during the process of giving permission provided that parts of the school are to be shifted to a new area?

# 2 – I would like to know what is the precise role of the MPs, state assemblymen and EXCO members of the Selangor state government and why they did not object to the partial relocation of the school in the first place?

Are they representing the developer, the DBKL or the welfare and well-being of the Tamil school with 700 pupils?

Until today, these elected representatives have not opened their mouths to object to the possible relocation of parts of the Tamil school.

#3 – The Federal Territories Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa has not said anything about the shifting of parts of the Tamil school. If she wants, she could have easily instructed DBKL not to touch the school.

Would Zaliha have agreed to the relocation if it was a national school or huge government complex? I am sure the question of relocation would not have cropped up in the first instance.

#4 – What exactly is the position of MPs, state assemblymen and EXCO members of the Pakatan Harapan (PH)-led administration in Selangor. Are they agreeable to the re-location?

Why are they maintaining a deafening silence on the matter? Does their silence indicate their agreement to relocate parts of the school?

Prof Ramasamy Palanisamy

#5 – As far the school board and PIBG are concerned, they are supposed to manage the school in the best interests of pupils, parents and the larger public.

Sometimes, these representative organisations are confused about what is best for Tamil schools. This why the future and well-being of the Ladang Kinrara Tamil school needs the intervention of the Indian community.

#6 – It is still not too late for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to intervene by halting the relocation of parts of the Tamil school. This might appear to be a small matter but Anwar knows very well that the Indian would not take kindly to the relocation of the Tamil school.

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek is perhaps too busy campaigning for the PH-led coalition candidate in the upcoming Sungai Bakap state by-election to say anything meaningful about the relocation exercise.

#7 – It makes no sense for a school board member to worry about whether the “outdated” video might have upset the DBKL. If the board member cannot defend the school, then he should tender his resignation.

Surely, the Indian community that values Tamil schools as its identity and pride, does not want “Trojan Horses” in the management of the school.

#8 – As I have said before, in an age of civil engineering marvels, surely the developer can think of myriad ways to overcome traffic congestion in the school’s surroundings without the need to relocate some parts of the school.

Backed by years of experience, DBKL is surely in a position to advise the developer concerned to come up with alternative routes and others.

#9 – The United Rights of the Malaysian Party (Urimai) that has emerged to debunk and de-mystify the fake multi-racialism of the PH-led government or the DAP and PKR will ensure that SJKT Ladang Kinrara will not be bullied into submission.

#10 – Urimai whose registration is being deliberately withheld by the PH-led government will effectively, bravely and honestly champion the rights of the powerless segments of the Indian community. – June 27, 2024
