Randstad: Shell M’sia is the most attractive company to work for in 2021

SHELL Malaysia – the petroleum retail market leader in Malaysia – has been crowned as the Most Attractive Employer in Malaysia for 2021 by Randstad, the world’s leading human resources solutions agency.

Having clinched the title twice in 2016 and 2017, this marks the third time Shell Malaysia has secured the number one spot for the Most Attractive Employer award in Malaysia.

“2020 has been one of the most challenging years for all employers in Malaysia. The crisis has underscored the critical importance of a powerful employer brand to an organisation’s success and ability to emerge stronger from the pandemic,” managing director at Randstad Singapore and Malaysia Jaya Dass pointed out.

“Therefore, many extraordinary employers have worked hard these past 12 months to ensure the safety of their employees while managing the serious economic consequences.”

The 2021 Randstad Employer Brand Research examines job seekers’ and workers’ perceptions of employer brands. It offers an accurate understanding of employee value proposition factors and drivers.

This year, 2,523 locally-based employees and job seekers were surveyed in Malaysia in Jan. This edition is unique as it marks the only global independent research that captures the changes in workforce sentiments before and after the COVID-19 pandemic.

The winners of the 2021 Randstad Employer Brand Awards are selected from the 75 most attractive commercial companies to work for in Malaysia (based on workforce size).

Based on the research, here are top 10 most attractive employers in Malaysia:

  1. Shell Malaysia
  2. Nestlé Malaysia
  3. Intel Malaysia
  4. Samsung
  5. Sime Darby Bhd
  6. General Electric
  7. HP Enterprise Services
  8. Sunway Bhd
  9. IBM

“Shell is humbled to receive this recognition from Randstad as being a top employer of choice in Malaysia,” Shell’s country HR manager (Malaysia) Shazmi Ali said.

“This acknowledgement serves as a testament to our employees for making Shell a great place to work with their relentless dedication to their customers, communities, and the nation, despite unprecedented challenges from the pandemic.”

Shazmi added that Shell is committed to becoming a talent powerhouse by enhancing our workforce with future-ready skills as Shell moves forward in its journey of powering progress towards a net-zero emissions future for Malaysia and the world.

Meanwhile, Randstad has inducted Petronas (Petroliam Nasional Bhd) into the Randstad Hall of Fame since 2020, as a testament to its consistent and outstanding achievements in employer branding.

According to Randstad, Petronas has brought home the most attractive employer accolade three consecutive times from 2018 to 2020 and the Hall of Fame is the highest and most prestigious accolade handed out in the Randstad Employer Brand Award, reserved only for employers who have won the awards three times in five years.

Moving forward, Randstad hopes to see local employers continue to foster meaningful relationships with their workers and strive to be the people’s choice for work. – June 9, 2021
