THE broken tiles along the walkway between the Royale Chulan Hotel and the Mutiara Damansara MRT station entrance is due to the open area being frequent misused by motorcyclists parking indiscriminately, said Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd.
The operator of the LRT, MRT and Monorail lines who is responding to a FocusM report over the matter said the major cause of damage has been the improper parking of motorcycles along the walkway which has caused significant damage to the tiled flooring.
“We would like to emphasise that repairs were conducted in April and July 2024 to address the damage, and these efforts were made to maintain the safety and appearance of the area,” it said.
“The latest complaint, which was received on November 22 via a social media channel, prompted another investigation into the matter, confirming the continued misuse of the space.”
Rapid Rail commenced work to repair the damaged tiles on Nov 25, and it is expected to be completed by Dec 2.
To address the ongoing issue of motorcycle parking, it said auxiliary police will increase monitoring and enforcement around the area.
“Notices have already been placed to restrict vehicles from parking in this area,” it said.
“As for long-term solution, upgrading of the area will be taken up by MRT Corp as the asset owner of MRT lines which includes a designated motorcycle parking area to prevent future misuse of the area.
“Rapid Rail and MRT Corp are dedicated to maintaining the station and are committed to ensuring that any issues arising are addressed promptly and efficiently.” – Nov 29, 2024
