Rational Malays: 90% or more who file police report against Hannah Yeoh haven’t read her book

LIBERAL-MINDED Muslims have come out in droves to defend Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh following media reports that her autobiography Becoming Hannah: A Personal Journey has attracted some 182 police reports with the cops having recorded statements from 59 individuals.

Leading the pack is Madani government backer Roman Akramovich (@SyedAkramin) who expressed 100% certainty that those who lodged police reports against the DAP lawmaker have never read her book.

“If they had read it, of course their police report would have been filed in 2014 (when the book was first published) not 2025 🤣,” the social media influencer penned in a post on the X platform while attaching a Berita Harian article on the matter.

While Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa disclosed that the police have yet to record a statement from the DAP lawmaker nor has set a date for this, detractors have trained their gun on Yeoh’s “ambassador of God” calling which they conveniently interpreted as an attempt at evangelising.

The floodgate was opened wide after the Kuala Lumpur High Court dismissed the Segambut MP’s defamation suit against former inspector-general of police (IGP) Tan Sri Musa Hassan who had alleged that the DAP lawmaker was attempting to turn Malaysia into a Christian nation.

In fact, the sentiment raised by Roman Akramovich rhymed with another post by fellow pro-Madani netizen WFAUZDIN NS (@wfauzdin) who highlighted how staunch PAS supporters lodged police reports based on what they heard at mosques nor are unable to pinpoint which page was the “ambassador of God” mentioned because they do not understand English.

Over on her Facebook (FB) post, Yeoh expressed her gratitude to Sabahan blogger Mohd Azis Jamman for denying that she had at any point in her book “tried to influence or convert me to Christianity”.

“From my understanding after reading the book, there is nothing in the book that talks about trying to convert anybody to Christianity,” he revealed in a FB post.

“I’m aware that there have been police reports against her and the book for various reasons, and I am honestly puzzled by them.”

Below are few comments left behind on Yeoh’s FB page by perceived Muslim netizens who denounced the action of so-called PAS supporters who blindly or cluelessly lodged police report against her. – Jan 9, 2025
