Remember your “evil” role in the Sheraton Move, UMNO tells Muhyiddin

UMNO supreme council member Datuk Puad Zarkashi reminded Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin that he was instrumental in collapsing the Pakatan Harapan (Pakatan) early last year.

“He accused UMNO of being evil for collapsing the state government in Melaka. If that is the case, is he not evil for dislodging the Pakatan administration via the Sheraton Move?

“Muhyiddin did it because he wanted to become the prime minister. (Former Sungai Udang state assemblyman) Idris Haron is exactly like him. Muhyiddin wanted to become premier while Idris wants to become chief minister again,” he said, in a Facebook post.

Two days ago, Muhyiddin criticised UMNO veteran Tan Sri Shahrir Abdul Samad for challenging his party to withdraw support from the Johor state government, which is currently helmed by UMNO.

Calling Shahrir a foolish man, the former premier added that the UMNO leader was making irresponsible challenges when such a move could trigger snap polls in Johor, which was not conducive due to the COVID-19 crisis.

“I know Shahrir and he has bad intentions. He wants the same thing that happened in Melaka to happen in Johor.

“Don’t challenge me. I can press the button and make things happen but my concern is the wellbeing of the people.

“I’m not afraid of challenges but I don’t wish to see Johor people having to face the same predicament as those in Melaka. I’m from Johor and I know the ground sentiment,” the Pagoh MP was reported saying, alleging it was UMNO that triggered the state government’s fall.

However, several netizens took to social media to chastise Muhyiddin, adding that Bersatu will get wiped out if he did that.

Touching on the matter, Puad claims that Muhyiddin was actually afraid to collapse the UMNO-led Johor state government.

As for Melaka, the former Batu Pahat MP added that it was PKR which triggered the collapse of the state government, not UMNO.

“PKR’s involvement in the matter was exposed after Idris was allowed to contest the Asahan state seat using the PKR ticket.

“Therefore, there is no need for Muhyiddin to use words like foolish against our leaders. If snap polls were called in Johor, I won’t be surprised if Bersatu doesn’t even win a single seat,” Puad concluded. – Nov 14, 2021
