THE Government should consider reopening all cinemas nationwide as movies are the top entertainment choice among Malaysians of all ages.
Optimism is in the air that attendances will rebound, stronger than ever with the support and solidarity from landlords and customers.
Movie-going remains a top entertainment choice for Malaysians, Malaysian Association of Film Exhibitors (MAFE) secretary Sisubalan Ehambaram told FocusM today.
“Of course, we will ensure all standard operating procedures (SOPs) are followed strictly, such as social distancing in cinema halls and keeping a mask on throughout the show.
“Our concession counters will be open to purchase food and beverage. But similar to purchasing movie tickets, we encourage cashless transactions,” Sisubalan advised.
Following the lifting of the conditional movement control order (CMCO) in certain states of Malaysia, MAFE has decided that cinemas will resume operations at selected locations from Dec 16 onwards.
The tenacious decision to reopen is in time with the release of the much-awaited 2020 blockbuster, Wonder Woman 1984, widely acclaimed as a much anticipated blockbuster attraction for movie-goers.
“MAFE will also continuously monitor the current situation and react accordingly in the coming months to seek approval to reopen other locations once it is safe to do so, as well as to appeal for the lifting of the single seat and gap rule,” Sisubalan said. – Dec 14, 2020.
